The Puffle was originated from the Ice Rink, it would pop out from behind the lamp time to time, if provoked. Club Penguin Staff referred it that they didn't want to make the creature too complicated, so a head with facial features it was set to be, thus the creation of the puffle.
The puffle had no name until one day, Club Penguin held a contest, name the "Fluffy" contest. The name "puffle" won the contest and "Puffle Round-Up" was released from the exit to the right of the Snow Forts.
When the Plaza was released, the game was moved to the right of the Plaza, but at the Pet Shop opening, the game was moved into the Pet Shop. The Pet Shop then served the purpose of giving Puffles at a certain price as household pets. Pink, Black, Blue and Green were the starting colors, later introduced were purple and red.
Puffles are usually found around parties, and consecutively appears upon a speaker in the dance club, which first appeared at the opening of the Pet Shop.

Shortly after the release of the Purple Puffle, the walk a puffle feature was released.
Shortly after the Halloween Party, the puffle water feature was released.
There are two puffles for nonmembers, red and blue.
The red puffle is from Rockhopper Island.
Puffles are the prominent role in every mission for the Secret Agents.
